Supporting Refugees from Afghanistan - Join Mission Liaison Rev. Peter J.B. Carman on Tuesday, April 19, 2022

Over the past several months, about 70,000 people from Afghanistan have been resettled in the U.S. with temporary status, following their emergency evacuation from Afghanistan. In the immediate future, several thousand more are expected.

Many churches, including ABC congregations, have been involved already in resettlement efforts as co-sponsors working with Church World Service and other Refugee Resettlement Agencies. Others have expressed interest in doing so, or are assisting in other ways.

Join Rev. Peter J.B. Carman, Mission Liaison for Afghan Refugees and Evacuees with American Baptist Home Mission Societies to share what your congregation is doing with refugees from Afghanistan or to find out more about how you can get involved.

ABC/RGR Creation Collaborative Hosts Viewing of "The True Cost"

Thursday, May 12 with 6:00 p.m. viewing and 7:30 p.m. discussion

"This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them and the impact it’s having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking new documentary film that pulls back the curtain on an unseen part of our world and asks us each to consider, who pays the price for our clothing?"

There will be both in-person and Zoom options available for viewing and discussion. Registrants will also receive the link to view the movie on their own schedule within three days prior to the discussion night.
